03 — What We Do

AI-Enabled Delivery Model

Know which AI opportunities are worth doing before you spend on them.

Most organisations have more AI ideas than budget. We assess each opportunity properly: the value it will return, the risk it carries, how ready your process and data are, and what it will cost to deliver and run. We use AI to do the heavy lifting of the assessment, and our consultants validate every result, so you get an evidence-based portfolio quickly. Then we help you deliver the opportunities you choose, with AI built into how your projects run.

Discuss an AI opportunity assessment How we assess
Is This You?

Common signs you need an AI opportunity assessment

You have a long list of AI ideas and no clear way to tell which are worth funding.
Vendors keep pitching AI features, but nobody can show what they would return in your organisation.
AI pilots stall because the process, the data or the ownership was never ready for them.
Your board wants an AI plan it can defend on value, risk and cost, not another one-off experiment.
The Principle

Don't start with the technology.
Start by understanding how work gets done.

We assess where AI and automation will remove friction, reduce effort and improve quality, and where they will not, before anyone commits budget.

How We Assess

Every opportunity tested on six questions

The same questions for every idea, so the portfolio compares like with like and the decisions hold up in front of your board.

ValueWhat will it return?Time and cost saved, quality and customer impact, measured against your own baseline.
FeasibilityCan it work here? How mature the process is, and whether the data and system access exist.
RiskWhat if it gets it wrong?Data sensitivity, the impact of an error and regulation, set as a risk tier aligned to ISO/IEC 42001 and AI6.
ReadinessAre people ready?A clear owner, the skills to run it and the appetite for change.
CostWhat does it cost to build and run?Build effort, licences and AI usage, over the life of the solution.
Time to valueHow soon does it pay back? When the first benefits arrive and when the investment is recovered.
Our Approach: The Spectrum

AI and automation opportunities exist at different levels

Each opportunity we assess is placed on this spectrum, depending on its risk, its complexity and how much judgement the work needs. It shows how far AI should go in each case: work first, technology second.

01 — AUTOMATE
Automate
Remove repetitive manual work.
Writing the weekly status report and the release notes from the backlog, with no one assembling them by hand.
02 — ASSIST
Assist
Help people complete tasks faster.
Drafting user stories and acceptance criteria from workshop notes, for the product owner to check and refine.
03 — AUGMENT
Augment
Improve human analysis and decision‑making.
Flagging delivery risks and scope creep from backlog and timesheet trends before the steering committee meets.
04 — AGENT
Agent
Allow AI agents to execute controlled multi‑step processes.
An agent that builds a ready story in small steps with tests, then opens a pull request for a developer to review; it never merges on its own.
05 — TRANSFORM
Transform
Redesign the process or delivery model around AI.
Redesigning how a project moves from idea to release, with AI built into every stage from the start, not added on afterwards.
What You Get

An AI plan you can defend, and the means to deliver it

A ranked portfolio of AI opportunities A business case for each priority A risk tier and controls for each A roadmap for the first wave Faster delivery of what you choose
What's Included — The Process

Assess first, then deliver

Steps 1 and 2 are the assessment, and you can stop there with a portfolio and roadmap. Steps 3 to 6 deliver the opportunities you choose and make them stick.

Select a step to see what happens in it.

Step 1 of 6 · Discover

Find every AI opportunity, with AI doing the heavy lifting

We look at how the work really gets done before talking about any tool.

What we do

  • Gather your process documents, delivery and ticket data, and the AI features already in the software you own
  • Use AI to analyse them at speed and draft a list of opportunities, each linked to its evidence
  • Hold short interviews with the people who do the work, to test and add to the list
  • Place each opportunity on the five-level spectrum, from Automate to Transform

What you get

  • An opportunity register, with the evidence behind each opportunity
  • A baseline of today’s measures (effort, lead time, rework, quality) to measure gains against

Your team’s part

  • An owner per area for short interviews
  • Documents and data exports, with personal data masked

Where technical build is required, ITSM‑UP orchestrates the work with specialist technical partners.
